Making an Impact

In this world where there is so much negativity being shared, it’s important for us to keep top of mind that we have the power to make an impact.

There are so many ways to make an impact on this like the environment, our communities, those we work with, our family and even people we don’t know….And that’s just a small sample of the things we can influence.

Something Simple Can Make a Big Impact

When talking about impact, it is so easy to get caught up in the perception that efforts need to be large and grandiose. It couldn’t be further from the truth. We each have the power to effect those around us with the simple acts we do. Whether holding a door open for someone, offering a greeting of a good day, or sharing a smile. Acts that take so little time and effort can leave a large impression on someone.

You may make a difference in how someone is feeling at the moment, or make them feel seen. Don’t we all want to know we matter? The powerful impact of a tiny action.

Your Impact Can’t Always be Seen

We don’t always know the impact we make. A great example is teachers. Whether teaching in schools or another form, teachers can change a person’s life and never know it. I can easily rattle off a number of teachers names in my life that made a significant impression on me. Many will never be aware of the role they played in my life.

Sharing information in various forms, especially in this technological world, is another example of how we can make an impact that we don’t see. Over the last couple of years, I have been writing and posting my weekly blog, like the one you are reading right now. There is nothing more rewarding than someone sharing with me how the blog impacted them….whether by posting a comment or sending me an email. Honestly, it makes my day.

I have been very blessed to have people let me know how my writing has impacted them….and I believe (and hope) that for every person who lets me know, there are much more who receive benefit from what I write, even though they don’t directly tell me.

A Worthy Daily Goal

We have the ability to impact so much, whether it be a person, the area we live in, those outside of our view and the world we call home. I find it a worthy goal for each of us to consciously have an impact in some way, each day. When we do this, the ripple effect could expand the impact we each make to expand way past our individual reach.

Would you be willing to consciously make a positive impact each day? How someone impacted you and how do you commit to impact others? I’d love to hear, so share with me.
